Volleyball

History:
Volleyball is a sport that was invented in 1895 by William G. Morgan. It was announced as Olympics first sport in 1964.


Name:
Volleyball’s original name was called mintonette but then changed into volleyball. It got its name from you volley the ball, the ball is shaped like a sphere


High Scores:
Volleyball is known as the sixth most popular sport in the world today. The longest recorded game was 75 hours and 30 minutes, taken place in North Carolina.


How To Play:
Volleyball is played by 2 teams with 6 people on each team. In order to win you have to send the ball over the net, so that the opposing team cannot return the ball or stop it from hitting the ground in their court.


Equipment:
For this sport you don’t need as much equipment as you would need for hockey or football. All you need are sports clothing and proper shoes, you don’t need a helmet or huge protection. But you will need a net and a volleyball.

How To Play
You throw the ball into the air and hit it with the racket. The maximum times the ball can bounce on the ground is once.
You have to make the ball bounce at least more than twice to get a point.

Football

What is Football
Football, a full contact contest where two teams try to pass to the other side, carrying a football and force the ball toward their opponents end zone. Football is one of the most aggressive sports in the world. In football each team is divided into three units offense, defense and special teams.


How To Play/Rules
You carry a football to the opposition’s end zone and you get a point. Penalties are given when rules are broken. Players are not allowed to push an opponent on the back, hold a player other than the ball carrier, or illegally obstruct a player.

Football field
A football field is 100 yards long (110m)with an end zone at each end.


History
Back then players were paid only $10 to play in a game in 1895. When Super Bowl 1 was on the lowest ticket price was only $6. The first football game played was November 6th 1869.

Fun Facts About Football

Topic Of The Month


We will be posting about a different sport each month to let everyone learn about the different sports we have around the world. A lot of people thinks he’s first but nope, he’s in second place. In second place with 3 balon d’or one away from Messi. He won in the years of 2008, 2013 and 2014. Although he is the highest paid athlete in the world Lionel Messi still has more balon d’ors than him At the age of 30, born on February the 5th 1985, at the height of 1.85m.
3)Manuel Neuer (Germany & Bayern Munich) (#1)
He gets third place because he is known as “The Best Goalkeeper In the World” but is not as good as the award winning first place soccer winner and the highest paid soccer player. At the age of 29, born on March 27th 1986, height of 1.93.
4) Arjen Robben (Netherland & Bayern Munich) (#10 & 11)
He is known as the fourth best soccer player in the world after Messi, Ronaldo and Neuer. He’s basically Manuel Neuer’s teammate. There is a saying for him he’s now 30, looks 40 and plays like 20. He deserves to be in 4th place because he was the winner for the champions league final. At the age of 31, born on January 23rd 1984, height of 1.80m
5) Thomas Müller (Germany & Bayern Munich) (#13 & 25)
He is in the place of #5 because he was suggested for the best soccer player from the FIFA, and because he is found most successful for his outstanding football intelligence and movement. At the age of 25, born on September 13 1989, height of 1.86m
6) Luis Suárez (Uruguay & Barcelona) (#9)
He made it to the sixth place because after having an accident at the FIFA world cup 2014 games, we could say that he has gotten a lot better at soccer looking at the progress he made for the rest of the year in 2014. At the age of 28, born on January 24 1987, height of 1.81m
7) Philipp Lahm (Germany & Bayern Munich) (#21)
Although he is older than C. Ronaldo, he made it to 7th in line. He plays as a defensive midfielder or a right back, depending on what ch position is needed in the game. In 2014 he won an award named the Bambi award. At the age of 31, born on November 11 1983, height of 1.70m
8) Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden & PSG) (#10)
Zlatan Ibrahimovic coming in as the 8th best male footballer/ soccer player. Zlatan plays as a striker in many soccer games. Surprisingly he is quite tall for a soccer player (in our opinion), many soccer players aren't as tall as 2m. He has won the golden foot for the year of 2012, the FIFA puskás award for the year of 2014 and many more. 9) Andres Iniesta (Spain & Barcelona) (#8)
Andres Iniesta is 9th in our top 10 soccer players of 2015. He plays for FC barcelona and Spain national football (soccer) team. His position is midfielder for both teams, Barcelona and Spain. He won the UEFA Best player in Europe award.  Although he is already 31 years old, he made it to be the 9th best soccer player.

10) Angel di Maria (Argentina & Manchester United) (#7)
And last but not least he made it to 10th place because he have been winning many awards, but not the “big title” awards. He is playing for the Argentina national football team and Paris Saint-Germain FC. His position is a midfielder for both the teams, Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain.

Pan Am Info

   The Pan American Games are the worlds 3rd largest international multi sport games.

    The first Pan Am Games were held in Argentina in 1951, the Pan Am Games are held every 4 years. Always held on the year right before the Summer Olympics. The Pan Am Games have been held in America a dozen of times, Canada has held the Pan Am Games twice in 1967 and 1999 and both held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and now Canada is getting the third chance to host the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto. This year there is about 7000 athletes from Latin America, South America, Caribbean and North America. 

   There are 36 Pan Am Sports   Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, BMX, Bowling, Boxing, Canoe/ Kayak Slalom, Canoe/ Kayak Sprint, Cycling (road), Cycling (track), Diving, Equestrian, Fencing, Field Hockey, Soccer, Golf, Gymnastics (Artistic), Gymnastics (Rhythmic), Handball, Judo, Karate, Modern Pentathlon, Mountain Bike, Open water swimming, Racquetball, Roller Figure skating, Roller Speed Skating, Rowing, Rugby Sevens, Sailing, Shooting, Softball, Squash, Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Trampoline, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, Waterski & Wakeboard, Weightlifting and Wrestling
